Day 1:
Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
The 3 Days Rwanda gorilla trekking safari starts with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi and the Rwanda National Museum before embarking on a scenic road transfer through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside to Kinigi at the foot of Volcanoes National Park.
The drive time is about 3 hours with excellent driving speed to allow you to enjoy views of the spectacular scenery. You will check in at One&Only Gorilla’s Nest and later enjoy dinner surrounded by the evergreen tropical forest.

Day 2:
Gorilla Trekking
Volcanoes National Park is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, and other primate species, including golden monkeys, making it one of Africa’s iconic destinations and offering the most accessible gorilla treks.
This gorilla trekking excursion is the highlight of your 3 Days Rwanda gorilla safari. You’ll start the day with a delightful breakfast and venture into the mist-covered rainforest accompanied by skilled rangers and trackers to find a habituated gorilla family. Once found, you’ll spend only one hour in their presence. Use this time to watch them intimately and capture every moment as they groom each other, forage, slumber, and play.
After the trek, you will return to your lodge and relish the day’s adventure, or visit the Ellen DeGeneres Gorilla Fund Campus, where you can learn about the tireless efforts to protect and conserve these gentle giants.

Back to Kigali

- The 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari is limited to a maximum of six travelers per vehicle, and a 30% deposit is required on confirmation.
- Travelers with special needs may be required to pay an extra fee for trekking facilitation.
- The minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years.
- Porters are available for hire at a cost of about $20. The porters can be found during the briefing or at the starting point of the trek. Some of these porters are former poachers who have now been given a chance to earn a living by helping travelers trek gorillas.
