Day 2:

You can take a walking safari through the community’s terraced gardens and paddle in a dugout canoe on Lake Mutanda before proceeding to your accommodation in the south of Bwindi.
Accommodation: Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 3:
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest
The gorilla trekking excursion starts at 7:30 a.m. after breakfast (it’s advisable to carry a packed lunch). Your guide will ensure you make it in time at the trailhead for the briefing.
Nkuringo visitor centre is about 500 meters from Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge which is only a 10-minute walk. If you’re trekking from Rushaga sector, your driver will transfer you to the trailhead, which is only 30 minutes away.
A litre of drinking water in a reusable bottle will serve you better during the trek, and comfortable hiking boots for steep climbs and wet ground will keep you on course. A poncho will keep you dry if it rains – remember this is a tropical rainforest. Long sleeves and long pants will protect you from forest bugs and thorny bushes.
Follow every instruction your guide gives you down to the last detail; everything will work out fine. Chances of seeing gorillas are good! Visitors will get to see them over 90% of the time. Once you find a habituated family, you’ll be allowed to spend only one hour with them. This helps to minimize disturbance to the primates.
This time goes by very quickly, but you have plenty of time to observe them and capture photos of every moment in their presence.
Day 4:
Relax at the lodge or go hiking
Today, you can stay at the lodge and enjoy stunning views of the rugged Rift Valley landscape, the Virunga Volcano Chain, and the misty Bwindi Canopy from your jungle resort, or embark on a community walk and hiking experience. The day hike can last for a whole day, and it includes a walk with the Batwa in Buniga Forest Pocket, bird watching around the Bwindi boundary, and a hike to Suma community waterfalls.
Day 5:
Community walk & canoe ride
After breakfast, head to Nkuringo with your driver and start your community walk towards Lake Mutanda. You will be dropped off by your safari vehicle at Rubuguri Junction from where you’ll start your 9-kilometre walk to the northern shore of the lake (Rwajenje landing site).
From here, the dugout canoe team will pick you up and paddle through the peaceful crystal-clear waters surrounded by breathtaking landscapes – misty hills, lush islands, and the towering Virunga Volcanoes.
The walking safari and boat ride to the southern shore near Mgahinga Gorilla National Park take about 3-5 hours. After arriving, it’s a 90-minute walk into Kisoro town, where your driver will meet you and continue to Mgahinga National Park.
Accommodation: Mount Gahinga Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 6:
Golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is situated in the southwestern corner of Uganda and it covers three northern slopes of Virunga volcanoes. The bamboo-covered forest is home to the endangered mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and several other animal and bird species.
Your driver will transfer you to Ntebeko Gate, where you’ll start the golden monkey tracking excursion. Golden monkeys are a unique species that can only be found in the Virunga Mountains.
Day 7:
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After exploring the smallest national park in Uganda, enjoy an early morning breakfast at 7:00 am before setting off to discover Queen Elizabeth National Park, the country’s second-largest national park.
During the six-hour transfer, enjoy breathtaking landscapes featuring hills, forests and banana plantations making way for the savannah. Upon arrival, you’ll have incredible encounters with plains game and predators of the savannah.
Accommodation: Elephant Plains Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 8:
Game drive & Kazinga Boat cruise
Begin your exploration of the park with early morning game dives in the popular areas of Kasenyi, the northern Kazinga plains, and the Ishasha sector—famous for tree-climbing lions. During the game drives, you are guaranteed incredible animal sighting, including buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, baboons, elephants, lions and leopards.
In the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to the Mweya Peninsula for a thrilling boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel—one of the most exciting Africa safari experiences. The channel attracts a vast array of animals, including one of the world’s largest concentrations of hippos. It also attracts a tremendous variety of rare avian species, including the African fish eagle, open-billed stork, and pied kingfisher.
Day 9:
Game drive and transfer to Kibale Forest
After an early breakfast, you’ll go on a final savanna game drive to spot more predator-prey interactions and later connect to the highway heading to Kibale Forest National Park. Enjoy the stunning landscape views during the 4-hour drive along the Kasese-Fort Portal highway in southwest Uganda. You’ll have lunch in Fort Portal and then walk to the “top of the world” as you explore the crater lakes.
Accommodation: Primate Lodge Kibale
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 10:
Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest
Here’s your opportunity to embark on a rainforest adventure with the challenge of finding a troop of chimpanzees and keeping up with their pace. It’s thrilling and exhausting, but worth every moment.
Kibale’s most popular walk starts at the Kanyanchu visitor center at 8:00 a.m. While chimpanzees are the most sought-after primates in Kibale Forest, keeping an eye out for the black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys will be of great benefit. Your ranger guide will also show you the pittas and different bird and plant species in the forest.
The trek begins with a briefing session from the park rangers and then you’ll be led into the forest to search for a habituated chimpanzee troop. These groups rarely retreat too deeply into the forest, meaning you don’t have to hike as far before coming across them swinging in the tree canopies.
You’ll be allowed to spend an hour observing them feeding, grooming and jumping from tree to tree. In the afternoon, you can take a walk through the Bigodi community situated on the borders of Kibale Forest.
Day 11:
Transfer to Murchison Falls
After a delightful early breakfast, you’ll transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via the escarpment, enjoying spectacular views of the dramatic landscapes. It will be a long drive of about 7-9 hours but stops will be made to allow you to stretch your legs. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a late-evening game drive along the game tracks as you spot predators on their evening hunting expeditions.
Accommodation: Nile Safari Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 12:
Game Drives
Murchison Falls National Park is home to a great diversity of wildlife including buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeests, antelopes, lions, kobs, Rothschild’s giraffes, hyenas, bushbucks, and warthogs. They are widely spread across the savannah grazing or hunting. Your African savannah experience starts with a morning savanna game drive on the Murchison tracks.
Afterwards, you’ll embark on a morning delta boat ride to the bottom of the Murchison Falls. Look out for Nile crocodiles, hippos, waterbucks, and various bird species. Upon reaching the bottom of the falls, you will disembark and climb or hike your way up to the top, where you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Nile and surrounding landscape.
Day 14:
Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After a sumptuous breakfast, enjoy one last game drive in Murchison Falls National Park as you transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an unforgettable rhino tracking, which marks the end of your 14-day adventure. You’ll have lunch and then proceed to Kampala or Entebbe to catch your departure flight.
