Detailed 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari
Day 1:
Transfer to Bwindi Forest
Assuming you are already in Entebbe or Kampala, start your 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Bwindi Safari with an early breakfast, and then meet your driver-guide.
After a short briefing, you’ll embark on a 9-hour road trip across rolling hills, cultivated terraces, and tropical rainforests, with stops at the equator crossing and the Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara for lunch. Finally, you’ll arrive in Nkuringo, Bwindi’s southern sector.
Check into your lodge, refresh, shower, and enjoy scenic views of the surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest; the majestic chain of the Virunga Volcanoes (Dian Fossey’s stomping ground) is clearly visible from your lodge.
Accommodation: Nkuringo Bwindi Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 2:
Gorilla trekking
Start the day with a hearty breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarters for registration and safety briefing. You’ll then be led into the forest jungle by skilled rangers and trackers.
As you venture into the mist-covered rainforest, your senses get attuned to the sounds and scents of the wilderness, and your expectation of encountering the primates heightens with each step.
Trekking these gentle giants in the misty jungles of Bwindi involves walking through shrubs, thickets, and undergrowth. Though quite strenuous, it is worth every step taken.
It takes from 2 to 6 hours to find a family of habituated mountain gorillas depending on their movements, and after finding them, you’ll spend a maximum of one hour in their presence observing them munch, play, groom, and nap.
After your dream moment, you will return to the headquarters to pick up your trekking certificate before heading back to the lodge.
In the afternoon, embark on a guided village walk to encounter the Batwa people or spend your time on relaxed, scenic forest walks, enjoying the natural beauty of your surroundings while spotting many beautiful birds in the trees.
Day 3:
Back to Entebbe
Wake up to the tranquil sounds of nature and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before starting another scenic road trip back to Kampala/Entebbe as you traverse the beautiful landscapes while reflecting on the adventure you’ve embarked upon.
