Transfer to Bwindi Forest
Upon arrival in Entebbe International Airport (or Kampala), you’ll be met and transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park across rolling hills, cultivated terraces, and tropical rainforests, with stops at the equator crossing and the Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara.
Once you arrive, you’ll check into Nkuringo Bwindi Lodge, a tranquil ridge-top eco-lodge serving as an excellent base for tracking these gentle giants. You can refresh, shower, and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding forest. The majestic chain of the Virunga Volcanoes (Dian Fossey’s stomping ground) is clearly visible from your lodge.
Accommodation: Nkuringo Bwindi Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 2:
Gorilla trekking
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the park headquarters for registration and safety briefing and then led into the forest by skilled rangers and trackers. As you venture into the forest, your senses become attuned to the sounds and scents, and your anticipation of encountering a benevolent silverback heightens with each step.
You’ll walk through dense vegetation, shrubs and thickets, taking between 2 and 6 hours. After finding a family of habituated mountain gorillas, you’ll spend a maximum of one hour in their presence observing them munch, play, groom, and nap. After your dream encounter with these great apes, you’ll return to the headquarters to pick up your trekking certificate before heading back to the lodge.
In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a guided village walk to encounter the Batwa pygmies or spend your time on relaxed, scenic forest walks, soaking in the pristine beauty of the forest. Keep an eye out for birds in the trees.
Day 3:
Back to Entebbe
