9 Days Kenya Safari

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to Nairobi National Park, the world’s only wildlife park, set against the backdrop of a modern city skyline. It is roughly 15 to 20 km away from the airport, so your drive will be a comfortable one.

What better way to experience wildlife in the city than to stay at The Emakoko Lodge? If you arrive early enough, you can either relax at the lodge pool or take a tour of Nairobi to enjoy the city’s attractions, including visiting the Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum, and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage. Then head back to camp for a taste of safari on a leisurely game drive, sundowners and a scrumptious dinner.

After a sumptuous breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Wilson Airport for a flight north to Lewa Airstrip in Borana Private Conservancy. Upon landing, you begin your game drive while transferring from the airstrip to Borana Lodge, finally arriving just in time for a delicious lunch.

Overlooking Laikipia’s Samangua Valley, Borana Lodge offers a great introduction to a typical African safari featuring breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, unparalleled hospitality and ultimate luxury. Here, you have two days to explore the remote conservancy with a range of activities, including game drives, horse riding, camel rides and walks with rhino.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast made with fresh ingredients from Borana’s organic farm before being airlifted to the Matthews Mountain Range. After landing, you’ll be transferred to Sarara Camp which overlooks the Matthews Range in the remote Namunyak Conservancy. Keep an eye out for wildlife on your way to the lodge.

In Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, you are in the land of the beautifully adorned Samburu people. Spanning 850,000 acres of pristine and unique wilderness, this area offers one of Kenya’s most unique safari experiences. Throughout your stay, explore the region on guided walking safaris (packed breakfast) or game drives accompanied by a Samburu guide.

You can also visit the community-run Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a well-known elephant orphanage, or attend traditional beading workshops with Samburu women. Enjoy sundowners before returning to camp for a warm campfire and a delicious dinner.

After a sumptuous breakfast, you’ll go on a game drive as you head to the airstrip for a flight to the legendary Masai Mara, the final stretch of your Kenyan safari adventure. Cottar’s 1920’s Camp, a luxury vintage-style safari camp nestled within the Olderkesi Conservancy, is your home for the next three nights. Here, immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of untainted wilderness as you savour delicious meals, lounge by the pool with your favourite beverage, or indulge in a soothing massage.

Enjoy an uncrowded safari experience featuring game drives, walking safaris, night drives, fishing, and community visits. You can add a hot-air balloon safari to your bucket-list experience, where you’ll float silently above the plains at sunrise and witness the breathtaking beauty of the expansive landscape. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of the wildebeest migration that has been occurring for over a millennium.

Today marks the end of your unforgettable adventure in Kenya. Bid farewell as you depart Cottar’s Camp for your flight to Wilson Airport and then transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward journey.
