Detailed 5 Days Kenya Safari

Day 1:

Arrival and transfer to Masai Mara

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to Masai Mara National Reserve. Your scenic road trip traverses the Eastern Great Rift Valley escarpment, offering a sneak peek of the valley below from the viewpoint. Then, continue to Narok Town for lunch before finally arriving at Mara Sopa Lodge. This elegant lodge sits high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills on the eastern edge of the Masai Mara reserve offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills. You can embark on your first game drive in the afternoon or simply relax in your luxurious suite, soaking in the serene setting of your surroundings.

Day 2:

All Day Masai Mara

On day 2 of your unforgettable Kenya adventure, embark on thrilling morning and afternoon game drives to explore Mara’s vast, vibrant, and serene landscapes packed with astonishing wildlife, including a high density of big cats. Furthermore, the reserve offers one of the best views of the heart-stopping wildebeest river crossing, where the herds brave the crocodile-infested Mara River in search of fresh and high-quality pastures from July to October.

Wildlife viewing is excellent in the Mara plains, as the vast, open savannah has less vegetation, allowing you to watch high-stakes predator-prey interaction from every angle. Watch a cheetah chase down its prey and a baby elephant frolicking in a nearby waterhole, both of which are some of the most exhilarating wildlife experiences on your Kenya safari. Enjoy a picnic lunch under an acacia tree in the heart of the savannah.

Although you can visit Masai Mara throughout the year, many travelers plan their trips around the wildebeest migration. Optional: You can also personalize your stay with hot air balloon safari, or authentic Maasai village visits.

Day 3:

Transfer to Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park is famous for its huge concentration of flamingos, sometimes in the hundreds of thousands, giving the lake a pink shimmering glow, and over 400 species of birds, making it a popular paradise for avid birders. The park is also home to a healthy population to the endangered rhino.

After an early breakfast, you can visit a Maasai village for an immersive cultural experience and then transfer to Lake Nakuru through one of Kenya’s vast wilderness expanses. Enjoy lunch en route, with scenic views of Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha from the main highway. On arrival, immediately check in at your lodge and embark on an afternoon game drive to view a vast array of resident game.

Day 4:

Transfer to Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is a gorgeous freshwater lake on the Great Rift Valley floor, but the jewel in the crown is Crescent Island. This stunning private wildlife sanctuary is situated on the Eastern side of the lake. It is home to astonishing wildlife and offers unique experiences, including bird watching and walking safaris among free-roaming wildlife without major predators.

On day 4, wake up to an early morning game drive, return to the lodge for a late breakfast, and then transfer to Lake Naivasha. You will drive through the vast savanna plains, rolling hills, and local settlements, with occasional wildlife sightings. On arrival, relax and enjoy the serene environment of your lodge before having lunch with a view of the lake. In the afternoon, either take a scenic boat ride to get up close and personal with Naivasha’s resident hippos and varied birdlife, or take a walk exploring the gorges and hot springs.
